Who we are
We are a club of undergraduate and graduate students who immigrated from former USSR to study and live in America. The club's logo is meant to symbolize both the ways in which each of us is unique and that which we hold in common: though we come from diverse backgrounds and regions within the former USSR, we have all chosen to study at the bastion of intellectual inquiry, The University of Chicago. The flags featured are the current flags of all the nations which previously made up the former Soviet Union and at the center is the University of Chicago's official shield.
What we do
We meet every week for "Russian Tea" in the beautiful South Lounge of of the Reynolds Club at the center of the University of Chicago campus. We talk about current events and campus life, tell jokes, share stories, listen to music and in general enjoy each other's company. In addition to these weekly gatherings we also participate in cultural events at the University of Chicago such as The International Food Festival, and host a variety of special events which include a Karaoke sing-along, Movie night and a student dinner. Ouside of U of C and its Hyde Park neighborhood, we participate in events hosted by our peers at Northwestern, Loyola and DePaul.
